Acceptance, change and creation. That’s what our special AVC training is all about. In a few days we want to teach you to better cope with the disease, pain, uncertainty and the effect of Tietze’s syndrome and/or costochondritis on your life. If you are interested in the training, please register quickly via the registration form. The number of available spots is limited and full is full!
The AVC basic training consists of three consecutive days with overnight stays and a return day and takes place in a safe environment with peers/people who also know what “Tietze and/or” is.
So it is really a training to (better) deal with having a (chronic) condition specifically based on (having) Tietze and/or costochondritis.
The AVC stands for Acceptance, Anchorage and Creation (an Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) based training). Many parts of being sick and learning to cope with it are covered.
Sign up can be done via the sign-up form at the bottom of this page (please note which training!).
Where: usually at a hotel/location in the middle of the country.

What is an AVC training course?
AVC stands for the “A” of “acceptance and understanding of your current situation,” the “V” of “change & anchoring” (what can be done better), and the “C” of “creation of new opportunities & possibilities. The training is also suitable for members who deal with Tietze and or/ costochondritis within their work.
Why this training course?
- you gain insight into where you are now and how you can move forward?
- You learn to accept your thoughts and feelings better and to let them go/give them a place in your life.
- you shift your attention to what is happening in the ‘now’ (mindfulness)
- you gain insight into who you are, what you find important (what you want to pay attention to) and what you still want to achieve in this life (and how to do that)
- you learn practical exercises + handles & tips
- you make good contacts with fellow participants
The training is carried out by experienced trainers/coaches. Certain components involve working with external professionals, such as specialized (behavioral) therapists, trainers and (life) coaches (e.g. a yoga teacher). All involved have experience with or knowledge of Tietze and/or costochondritis and have experience and expertise in chronic illness, pain and/or fatigue.
What else you need to know:
Much is reimbursed (by budget from the Association), but we ask for a personal contribution of € 195 for the four-day training. If you have any questions first, please email trainingen@tietze.nl.
N.B. The own contribution is to reimburse the costs of part of the stay and the food. These costs are regularly reimbursed by (additional) health insurances. We then provide an adequate bill.
You can register via the registration form that will be posted as soon as the training date is known.
Scientific basis AVC training
The Tietze AVC training is based on the principles of ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), a scientifically researched treatment method and behavioral therapy (Steven C. Hayes (USA)). However, the training goes further by giving participants not only tools but also practical tips in the areas of exercise, nutrition, (voluntary) work, reintegration, rehabilitation, etc. In addition, we work with the principles of MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and the outcomes from the research of Prof. Dr. Rinie Geenen & his team (UMC – Utrecht) from 2013 in Tietze patients.
